Training
U-TURN Sports Academy is a sports institute. Classes are full quarters in length (3 months/ 12 weeks).
Our quarter system goes as follows:
- Fall: September to December
- Winter: December to February
- Spring: March to May
- Summer: June to August
Athletes must go through a skills evaluation to determine their program level. There are 4 levels in the basketball program: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Elite.
U-TURN Basketball focuses on specific skill development at every level: Defense, Ball Handling, Dribbling, Passing, Shooting, Rebounding, Court Vision, Movement without the ball (cutting/screening), Creating your own shot.
NEXT-LEVEL TRAINING (NLT I-II-III)
Next-Level Training is designed to provide a complete program focusing on the core aspects of athleticism and skill development. Each athlete will spend an hour on the court, an hour with Sports Science, and fifteen minutes in a devotion (in a predetermined order). In order to get to your Next-Level, we recommend that you come at least 2-3 times a week during a quarter. But as a family, you are able to choose between 1-3 times of training a week. NLT I meets on Mondays. NLT II meets on Mondays and Wednesdays. NLT III meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
SKILL TRAINING
Skill training is designed to provide individual fundamental skill development only. The athlete will spend an hour on the court and a fifteen minute devotion (in a predetermined order).
POSITION TRAINING
Position Training is designed to provide a position specific one hour regiment, so that the advanced or elite athlete can own their position.
INDIVIDUAL AND SMALL GROUP TRAINING
These are private or semi-private lessons, in order to give the athlete more specific instruction or attention.(At least a 1:1 ratio for privates and a 1:2 ratio for semi-privates)
SELECT GROUP TRAINING
These are select group or team lessons, in order to give the athlete more specific instruction. (These groups will contain no less than 3, but no more than 15 members). This training opportunity can only be set up by the director.
