Program Overview
U-TURN Sports training is devoted to providing high-level yet affordable sport-specific training, including speed, strength, vision, mental enhancement, nutrition counseling, and top-notch competition in the Richmond, VA area.
We are committed to providing programs equally attractive to both suburban and at-risk urban populations, bringing diverse socioeconomic and racial populations together to train, fellowship and participate together on competitive teams.
As a service organization with certified professional coaches, trainers, and counselors on staff, U-TURN sports training is unique in its ability to train youth with a broad range of needs.
All training programs include a 15-20 minute Bible Study per day.
Levels of Training
U-TURN offers 3 levels of training:
BASIC TRAINING
Ages 6-9: Introductory Skills and Athletic Development Enhancement Program
Children train twice per week, 1 hour sessions each:
* 45 minutes on the court/field learning basic skills & comprehension
* 15 minutes improving speed, agility, quickness, balance and core strength
NEXT LEVEL TRAINING
Ages 10-13: Intensive Skills and Athletic Development Program, for emerging competitive athletes who have learned the technical rudiments of their sport(s).
Children train twice per week, 90 min sessions each:
* 1 hour on the court/field honing basic skills for success in local and state competition. Basic strategy is taught to the athletes as well
* 30 minutes in a more intensive speed, agility, quickness, balance and core strength workout
* Saturday Morning Competitive/Open Play available
HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING
Ages 14+: Premier program for taking young athletes to their peak performance, designed for competitive athletes desiring to compete at the highest junior levels.
Childdren train 2-4 times per week, 135 min sessions each:
* 1.25 hours on the court/field per day, perfecting skills and game knowledge for success in state, sectional, and national competition
* 30 minutes in an intensive speed, agility, quickness, balance and core strength workout
* 30 minutes in a sport-specific, periodized strength training session for developing muscular power, strength, and endurance
* Friday Night and/or Saturday Morning Competitive/Open Play available
* May take some 5 year olds at coaches discretion.
INDIVIDUAL AND SMALL GROUP TRAINING U-TURN offers private or semi-private lessons, in order to give the athlete more specific instruction or attention. (At least a 1:1 ratio for privates and a 1:2 ratio for semi-privates)
SELECT GROUP TRAINING U-TURN offers select group or team lessons, in order to give the team more specific instruction. (These groups will contain no less than 3, but no more than 15 members). This training opportunity can only be set up by the director.
